Hi all ,
Can anyone tell me how to wire up my electric fan. There is 2 wires coming from the fan and 2 pins on the radiator temp switch but I
dont have anything to connect to on the wiring loom. I do want to have a switch on the dash just in case I ever need the fan on, my wiring skills are
not very good so please help.
Stuart.
you will need to wire a fused 12V into the switch, the other end of the switch to the fan and the other end of the fan to ground. Often they are
marked + for +ve or - for -ve or they have red and black wires, where red is +ve and black -ve.
You've got to get the fan wiring the right way round or it will turn backwards.
Thanks for your help.
It would be better to use the temp switch to close a relay which then operates the fan. The startup current on some fans can burn out some delicate sender units. Then wire a manual override switch in parallel with the temp switch.
Please take a look at my post here. It is towards the end.
SVA won't allow you to use the Lucas Toggle switch and so you will need to find an alternative.
You won't need the manual 'off' postion as I doubt you will go wading.
Beware when connecting the fan switch that neither contact is earthed to the switch's body!, if one is then the switch has to be wired in one
way.
Relay is £2 from Maplins.
