Not sure whether this question should go in the SVA section or this section. Here goes.
The current SVA manual says that the brake light warning lamp must be ''fitted with an operational "test facility" that enables it's operation to be
checked from the driving position without opening the reservoir". (Section 16.4 paragraph Ciii, bullet point 5)
Has anyone fitted one of these. What does it actually do? I.e. what does the switch divert power to.
Thanks, Rob
you have a switch in the master cyl lid that puts the light on if fluid level is low,you can have a switch to check all is well or have it wired with
the handbrake warning light switch
Late (Rubber bumper) MGB's and Mini's have such a ricker switch (actualy its the same switch).
If you want the other rocker switches (fan, wipers etc) to match then you can source them all new from an MGB supplier such as the MG owners club.
Roger
Merlin Motor sport sell them for £5.65 +85p for harness
or look down the scrappie for Allegro, or Marina's, and possibly Metro's
I have already wired the warning light up to the fluid level switch and the Handbrake warning switch.
From what Conrod says then this should be sufficient.
Thanks
Rob
as long as you know when you have run out of fluid and you can check the circuit thats ok
Get a sierra one and wire it to work as a handbrake warning light as well. The black plastic dome on top of the cap is the test switch, just press it
and the light comes on on the dash.
yours, Pete.
I have used a sierra handbrake switch and wired it in as suggested already. I just didn't know if this was allowed for the SVA.
Thanks
