Have builders put anything under the battery panel to support the weight or have they just let it be clamped to the ally skin

thanks

Some prouction cars have really nice structural plastic trays to hold and clamp the battery look at some of the Rover 200 to 800 series, or if you can find a Rover 75 being broken it has a complete plastic box the battery sits in.

My horizontal bit is ABS plastic. I fitted 2 lengths of Ali angle to sit the battery on. The back one has a return on it the battery is secured at the back. Ive then used one of those simle top brackets with long studded bars (hooks at bottom loop into angle ali) and wing nuts to hold down.

Made up a 3mm aluminium plate and battery box for mine that sits on the chassis inner, outer and bulkhead rails . didn't like sitting it on thin ally above passengers knees.

Escort Mark 3 Battery trays are cheap - £11.99 from my local motorfactors.

Just get the BATTERY TRAY though - otherwise they try and supply half the wing to it ;-)

Cheers
