Hiya all.
Can anyone answer a couple of queries for me please?
First I've seen a set of ring headlights in halfords that I rather like. round with a l.e.d. ring around the outside. Angel eye type things. They
are E marked but as far as I can see they only have one filament in the bulb... can anyone tell me if these are SVA-able?
Secondly... If you used headlights with E marked glass set back into the bodywork then used clear perspex in front of them (similar to what's
been done with some GT40 kits/clones) is this acceptable by Mr SVA man? or would it have to be kite/e marked glass?
Any help and or advise always gratefully received.

If they have only one filament I think you will find they are spotlights.
I had a similar idea about using these. I wanted to use the led ring as sidelights (my headlights didn't have any) When I contacted Ring's
technical guys they told me they wouldn't get past SVA.
I think the perspex cover idea is ok though.
Hmmm I suspected as much. BUGGER!
Why is it that everytime you see something you really like it's not SVA friendly?
Thanks for the advice guys. Think I'll double check the perspex idea with SVA man first to be doubly sure.
they were selling the mentioned lights at the autosport show except they were proper headlights high and dipped and angel eye side lights do a search on ebay theres a shop selling them £39.99 for the light unit dont come with backs
I looked at those lights on ebay, asked the guy if they were E marked. His reply "At this price you've got to be kidding"
Take that as a no then.....
The ones I saw in halfords were definately e marked (first thing I looked for) and the box said HEADLIGHTS not cruise/fog/spot lights. Had another look at them today but I'm sure there is only one filament.
normal is a h4 bulb type i think will one of those fit.
or is it not quite as simple as that as regards to light patterns etc.
how much are they by the way?

The ones in Halfords are £39.95
Are H4's the three connector ones? As in most production cars?
yes
these bulbs were definately NOT H4's much muc smaller, almost like (but not quite the same as) the the bulbs used in fog lamps.
i,ll have a look tommorrow will be passing a halfords sound to cheap tobe headlights
knew i should of brought them at autosport show
Always the possibility there was a mistake in the pricing.
The staff in this halfords are well known locally for there....erm....compitence.
if there the same ones there no good they are driving/spot lights
they had a button on the box to see the angel eyes about 3"/4"
there 79.99 here by the way
nope these ones are marked on the box as HEADLIGHTS. They also do driving/spots. Will get a pic when I go in next week (if I'm not crap and forget)
