The Aldon Ignitor in my Range rover spontaneously combusted the other night taking the coil with it! It has been fine for the last two years anyone any idea why before I go buy another?

Could be the coil failled first -- ignition left on for a while with ignition not running coil overheated over heated shorted -- bang took the igniter.
