warning light

right i am trying to wire up the brake fluid warning light it is a ford type it has 3 wires 1 brown 1 brown/yellow 1 brown/green. I used the brown as earth
and the brown/yellow as live(is this right) i know it is a good earth. I am take the brown/yellow to the live on the handbrake light on the dash(live)but all is happening is blowing fuses Y?

As far as i Can remember, you just need the two outer conections on the tree pin conector

EEK just re-read your post, 1 conector goes to earth, the other goes to bulb !!!!!!!
It's an earth switch, not a live switch

The power runs through the bulb and then the switch. Rather than the other way round.

so are you saying it a live loop with no earth ?
