Denso alternator wiring question
chrsgrain - 8/6/06 at 01:22 PM

Hi all,

am just plumbing in my new little alternator (Denso one) and was planning on doing the wiring as below. Unfortunately the old alternator didn't need a switched live feed and so there isn't one in the (nicely wrapped and fixed!) loom.

Can I take a feed from the battery (ie connect the battery post to connector 2) or would that be a 'bad thing'. If not I've got some spare wires in the loom for upgrading, but they're all relatively small (put in for extra sensors if I want them later) would the current draw be excessive?

Thanks

Chris

PS thanks to Westfield World here for the picture

I'd run the feed as ign controlled, but I don't think the current draw is very high, well I hope not as I only have 10 amp cable going to mine!

Thanks Nat,

I'll use the wire in the loom for the oil pressure gauge I've decided to do without!

It should only draw a few milliamps as it is a sensor to tell the alternator to charge. Practically any wire will do.
