Having bought a SVA compliant set of lights from Lolocost, I am now face with the predicament that they dont come with front side lights. Does this mean you dont need them? If I do, whats the best light to use.........................Please Help!!!!!!!!

I sourced some more plugs complete with sidlight bulb attachments from a Mini in the local scrapyard.

Hang on, you need sidelights for SVA and you were sold an 'sva compliant' set of lights?

If you look on lolocost's price list they list a loom that holds the sidelight bulb for use in their headlights. I'd suggest that they should have included that in your 'compliant' set.

They probably said 'sva compliant headlights', which may well be true. After all, you may choose to fit separate sidelights, e.g. as found on Land-Rovers.

Mind you, most other headlights sellers I saw recently clearly told you when extra bits for the sidelight are required.

P.S. Some form of sidelight is a SVA requirement - 'position lights' I think they call them. This can be in the headlight or a separate item, but it still has to be a certain height and within a certain distance from the outside of the car.

True they could say that!
The looms that they sell are quite expensive, I agree that you should go round the scrapyards looking for minis & landrovers to get the plugs of the back of their lights (they are the same) other 1970's BL cars with round headlights should fit too.

The side indicators lolo were claiming to be SVA compliant are not,the angle of the lens is too steep.
I've gone for the flush oval type as on mk5 escort,or motor bike fairing type from http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk

i know this has been said before but there is no such thing as "SVA Compliant".

It's all down to how the component is placed and on the attitude of that particular tester on that particular day.

If he don't like it then it don't pass.

"SVA friendly"might be a better term, no one can sell something and guarantee compliance.

I also had this problem and coudlnt find any scrap mimis at the time. i just got two instrument panel bulb holders and added the extra cable to the Lolo loom and then glued them to the headlamp plugs in a position to shine through the reflector.
I also thought that i could have fitted a dim dip system and claim that to be the side lights but was not certain if i could get away with it.
