nib1980 - 11/5/07 at 12:14 PM

Hi all,

I plan to try and start my car for the first time this weekend.

Whcih battery do you reccomend for a 1300 crossflow, with megajolt.?

I don't want anything particulary fancy and race like, just a off the shelf job/

Many thanks

I am using a ford fiesta/ka battery on my big ol pinto (does struggle a bit though), so one of those would be fine for a lil' xflow.

I am using one off a 1.6 zetec escort to turn over a cosworth v6 & it churns over superb.

Something from a modern jap car may be suitable, they seem to use tiny batteries.

I just went to my local motor factors and bought the smallest, might've been from a mini, had no problems

I got mine from Allens Motor Services in Wellingborough. Can't remember how much, but it was cheap and had a two year guarantee. Tell them 1300 MK2 Escort and they'll sort you one out.

I've got one of these powering my XE and has been fine - although I tend to keep in on an optimate. But it started first time away from home one cold morning in november.

As andybod I used another std car battery in parallel when starting for the first time.
