
i need to find a way to switch a relay on and off, sounds simple but i don't know how to do it.
Basically i'm gonna have 1 wire which will need to turn power on and then keep it on, then a second wire that will turn on that will need to cut
the power.
If this makes sense your advice is appreciated
Strange application, what are you trying to do?
basically i have a motorbike alarm/immobiliser with a remote start. i was going to ditch the key to start and drive the car purely with the alarm fob
Ahh, so you want the starter to stop turning once the engines started? But you still need power to the ignition system...
Sure someone will come up with an electrical solution for you. Mine would be use the key 
ah no the alarm takes care of stopping the starter motor, i'm looking for something to stop the engine itself.
The alarm has an output wire to stop the engine but it needs to stop all power in the car
you'll need two relays, first one switched N.O and the second N.C and will open when you what to switch off the engine.
That's if I catch your drift!
2 relays would do it I think but a couple of questions

The first wire is it live all the time?? does it need to go to the load at all times while the engine is running.
the second wire is it live as long as it's switched on?? is it momentary??
Thats a good question, i don't know for either of them, looking at the diagram i think the 1st wire is live all the time, the second wire i have no idea, i think i need to test it out to see what happens

Are these 12v positive or switched earths (doesn't make a lot of difference to the solution really)
Like others have said, you'd need two relays, one for the ignition side of things and another for the starter solenoid. I doubt it, but maybe the alarm provides enough current to power the solenoid on its own so no need for this second relay.

The first relay is activated by your start signal, through a diode.
relay 1 CO gets +12V always
NO is wired to relay 2 CO
relay 2 NC goes to relay 1 coil +
Relay 2 is worked by your kill switch.
The starter is worked from the start signal from before the diode (a 3rd relay might be needed to work the starter)
