Who can tell I'm sorting my engine bay wiring? I guess the number of questions recently is a bit of a giveaway....

Anyway - here goes!

I was supplied an Oil Px sensor with my gauges (teleflex from haneline). I understand that the fitting in my EFi pinto is a switch. the adaptor supplied by haneline means that the new pressure sender fits fine HOWEVER.. it only has a single connection therefore (I assume) it does not incorporate an oil pressure switch for the warning light

So.. I am after suggestions on a solution. so far I have thought about:

1. finding a suitable spot on the block or oil cooler hoses etc to mount the original switch

2. making some kind of distribution block to attach and fit both devices to.

3. getting hold of a new pressure sender which incorporates a low pressure switch.

these options leave me with a few questions...

1, where can i get some suitable taps/dies - i beleive these are all NPT threads?

2, are all oil pressure senders made equal? or do i need to try and find out the spec of the one supplied with the gauges?

3, Where can i get a pressure sender with a built in pressure switch?

you can buy an adaptor block from Burton power that will allow you to fit both I got one from there for my xflow and it works fine about £8

I bought a 2-way gizmo from Think Auto (I think!). It's a piece of brass, square section, with a male end that goes into the block, a female thread on the other end, and a female thread on the side.

I have heard people say that these things can break and spill your oil everywhere - but when I spoke to Think Auto the poo-poo'd that idea and said that they'd never heard of it happening.

Get a T-piece. Lots available in various sizes from the usual suspects.

Some people don't like the idea of the single thread carrying the weight of two sensors and a t-piece and prefer having remote sensor set-up. Personally I've just used a T-piece and the sensors and no problems so far. If my block cracks I'll let you know!!!

eeerrrrmmm I don't have a 'low oil pressure' light.

Only an oil pressure gauge which I check periodically as I drive

One more question...

does anyone know what thread the standard fitting in the Pinto block is?

is it 1/4" NPT by any chance?

I'd go with the T piece option - just phone Burton's or Think and they'll know what thread etc.

you can buy a sandwhich plate that goes between the oil filter, thats what i have done, bit expensive though, they are on ebay, come in annodised blue ali.
