Alternator Whoes!!
coozer - 3/2/08 at 06:23 PM

Well, I'm depressed now. Having bought a nice brand new Brise alternator on the bay cheapish I thought my installation worries were over...

How wrong could I be? The mountings are central and actually further apart than the Focus unit I've been trying to fit. It all bangs off the chassis rail.

I now have 3 alternators and I'll be off to the breakers and ebay to find yet another culprit to waste some more cash on

Anyone want it? Brand new unused with an ally five groove pulley... Rescued attachment brise.JPG

Nice to know I'm not the only one with an alternator museum.
I finished up with a 17 ACR Lucas, after a beetle unit, a fiesta unit, rover..., and turned an adapter up to fit the multi v pulley.

I alsocollected a few while trying to make them fit.I ended up with a denso unit that looks a lot like the ones fitted to some Rovers.I ended up with a lower bracket that fits either side of the oil filter to allow it to be low enough to give clearance for the throttle bodys , only problem is I need to remove the alternator to change the oil filter.
