Oil pressure gauge

I have two wires for my oil pressure gauge that connect to the sender, when i connect them either way the gauge just shoots to max any ideas?

It used to work, now i don't know why it won't

Are you sure you aren't connecting the gauge to the oil pressure switch? The symptoms would be exactly as you have observed...

I don't suppose one wire is the signal and one is power for the light, with the body being the earth for both?

Yeah, there are two pins one wire works the light and the other seems to be live, as soon as i attach it to either terminal or earth it to the casing the needle goes to max, when i start it it seems to read backwards,20psi
