Anyone got an Acumen DG8 running with a KOSO dash?

Anyone got an Acumen DG8 running with a KOSO dash?

Mine won't learn any gears - but it detects neutral, and changes from "-" to "1" when the engine is running so I think the rev pickup is OK. I'm guessing its the KOSO hall sensor pickup, but the dash is showing the speed fine...

Anyone suceeded with this combo?

James

Mine did exactly the same thing.

First how many magnets do you have?

You need as many as possible I fitted new ones and I think I fitted 6 (the KOSO max)

Next is the rev pickup it has to be as clean as possible.

I have a zx9r engine and when I rang Acumen the tech guy went and found the exact wire for me to connect to for the best use.

For the life of me I cant remember what that wire did now I wrote it down somewhere but can't find it. I have a feeling it was from the crank sensor (someone else might know)

I would try the magnets then give Acumen a call they are very helpful guys.

I started off using the wire the Koso was using for the rev's which was off a spark plug. Too noisy according to Acumen.

I'm using a nice clean pulse output from my aftermarket ECU, I could also take one from the engine pickup I suppose, but I don't think that's the issue...

I only have one magnet, but I've also read this - so tried putting it in 5th (it still would think it's 1st) to up the pulse rate

Just spoken to a very helpful David at Acumen, he's explained why the DG8 needs 6 magnets to work well, and you can understand it, with one magnet it takes the dg8 30meters before it has enough pulses to determine the gear!

Even shifting to top gear, I dont think there were enough pulses - I will add as many as I can and retest...

I only had 1 also so it sounds like that will sort it for you.

I have a feeling David was the guy I spoke to.

I reccomend Acumen just for thier customer service. Along with the fact they sent me some magnets to get it all working and followed up until the job was done.

As an update, 5 magnets instantly fixed the problem - working perfectly now
