Starter Solenoid connections?

Electrics/wiring tend to worry me.

Gotta Lucas pre-engaged type starter. Its solenoid has 3 connections -

i) threaded terminal, connected to main lead from battery +ve,
ii) smaller terminal, connected to dashboard warning light,
iii) same size as (i), but closer to starter body.

What should be connected to terminal (iii), please?

N.B. Both (i) and (iii) terminals have identical brass hex nuts to retain ring terminal connectors.

Anyone's help will be much appreciated.

You should have two connections. One big fat one direct to the battery/cut-off switch and a skinny one from the starter button/keyswitchstarter.
Why have you one to a light?

i, Main feed from battery (or via cut off switch)
ii, Activator feed, 12v from the start switch, powers the solenoid which engages the starter gear and connects term' i+iii internally.
iii, connection from the soleniod to the starter motor, not a terminal for you to connect to.

If I've read my wiring instructions correctly, its the connection to the charge light.

The third terminal is probably the connection for the feed to the ignition coil when cranking. Only used when a ballast resistor coil is fitted. Charge lights are not connected to the starter.

Will have to re-read thru the PWS instuction sheet. Thansk for this feedback. Particularly as I'm not using a ballast resistor (so far!!).
