New to this forum as when I was searching for some advice I found a post on here similar to my problem.
I have put a mk1 2003 focus rs engine in to a mk6 2005 fiesta
As current engine is in and ecu is wired in, car turns over fuel pump primes , the problem I have is with the immobiliser, now I have a key chip that
matches the ecu.
But as the fiesta seems to use a diffrent path than the focus the ecu doesent see the signal from the chip, the post I found on here is showing wiring
the halo direct to the 2 ecu immobiliser wires.
Can anyone confirm if this will work for the 2003 focus rs ecu, the ecu pinout shows the wires going to immobiliser control module (which I think is
the multifunction control module from what I can find)
Both see the signal from the transceiver around the ignition barrel. This is why the diagrams you are using show the connection to the body unit.
I never cover the alarm unit as engines I do go into kits ect and the immobilizer will work independent from the alarm.
Ive done the st170 and the mk1 Rs (turbo zetec) shares a lot of pin outs with the the St170. Infact there are fewer engine sensors on the Rs than the
St.
Where in the world are you ? I want to do an Rs ecu but havnt found a cheap one yet.
But to get back to your question, yes the info in my post crosses over to the Rs. Are you providing the transceiver with switched live and earth ?
I have not removed the halo from the original fiesta loom as I thought I would try find the info I needed first to make sure it's possible
So what I will do now is extend the 2 wires (3 and 4) from the halo down to the two immob ecu wires , I can't remember the pins of the top of my
head but as your thread says I do remember that they are green/white and grey/orange
This advice is invaluable as if I hadent found it I would have been banging my head off the wall for ages
Oh and the fiesta alarm system seems to be functioning properly as I haven't touched the car loom so to speak, it's just the ecu
immobiliser I was having issues with
When I got the ecu/engine/loom I never got the key as the guy had lost it, I sent the ecu to a place not to far away and they coded another chip to
the ecu for me, the chip I got is slightly bigger than the one in the fiesta key so I may have to do the old halo hidden behind the dash thing, this
just means there will be no real theft protection ( apart from the alarm that is)
I haven't checked for power to it yet but I will in the morning , as now I know it will work :-)
I will give you a shout and let you know how I get on
I am interested in the costs and firm that did your recode as I tell any one that no chip and the ecu is a paper weight based on the fact Ford wont do
just an ecu for anti theft reasons.
It was a place called autotronics in the uk that done the coding and it was around the £100 mark, they did take a while to do it, they had the ecu for
a few weeks , the new chip was in a small glass tube . I have removed the original chip from the key so I guess it's just a case of getting it
positioned properly.
But I will try tomorrow and will see if the new chip does work..... Which I really hope it does
And yes your right as I was doing work on one before and trying to have 2 chips close to the recover would just confuse the ecu, it would only work
with the correct one and only that one next to it
Also I know a ford tech and asked him about this and he told me they send them to a place in scotland to get coded but I already had found someone who
said they would do it before he got back to me
I have all of the focus rs loom , but I'm only using the ecu/engine sensor part of it , and that is spliced in to the fiesta loom at the ecu
end, basically for power and the few wires the car sees from the ecu.
I will have a look over your thread and see what I can do next , I only had a hour at it this morning to try what I found
I have wired in the immobiliser light and it just constantly flashes , can you tell me if the halo round the barrel on the 2005 fiesta is the same as
the 2003 focus rs? As it's the fiesta one I'm using
Ok, after looking at the halo plug on the focus loom the plug is diffrent (same as the one in your thread ) I'm now wondering if I will require
a halo from a focus of the same year
I know the fiesta immobiliser system is linked in to the instrument panel, as they are coded to the ecu as well, the wires on the focus halo match the
2 wires on the focus ecu , I will get a halo from a mondeo/focus around 2003 age and see if that fixes it, I'm thinking it's maybe a
diffrent way of picking up the signal
Iv not done a thread on any forum about this mate, car originally started with a blacktop from a mondeo with a turbo bolted to it running low boost,
when it was put in to get set up it was blown up :-/.
That's when it was decided to go along the focus rs route
It originally was running fiesta turbo omex with a unichip.
But decided it would be better to just run oem engine management then there would be no hassle with mapping or so on so forth.
I'm waiting on maf sensor and a few other bits and bobs and need to tidy up some wiring but once I have I will post up some photos of it :-)
