Tunnel loom tie clipped to brake pipe?

Can we cable tie the loom in the tunnel to the brake pipe?

Cheers,

Pat...

I wouldn't. Firstly I don't think SVA bloke would like it. Secondly, and I know it's a chance in a million but...brake fluid will ignite if in contact with a heat source rather than a spark, so in a crash if the wiring shorts and the brake pipe splits they a fire can start. I suspect if the crash is that bad you're probably dead anyway!

Ive ran my loom down the other side to the brake pipe. Both of these are either side of the top rails. The fuel pipe is ran along a bottom rail. The only iffy thing i have done is cable tied the speed sensor wiring to the fuel line after spiral wrapping.

I was under the impression that wiring, fuel and brake lines were best to be seperated.

I don't think the SVA would see the cable tie as a 'designed for' holder. In practice I cant see it being a problem but technically you know it's not right.

In the SVA manual it states that the loom and fuel feed cannot be secured using the same mechanism. Doesn't say anything about the brake pipe though. IMHO I'd keep them seperate but you know that already.

Cheers

I did mine the same way as Darren - fuel pipe, brake pipe and loom in different corners of the tunnel.

Don't forget to ensure that these things are all well clear of the propshaft and diff flange in all positions of the suspension (fully up and down).

Have fun!
David

I know fuel and leccy has to be kept separate. I have fuel pipe in one "corner" of the tunnel, brake pipe and wiring in another - the same as each other, but attached separately and the wiring in convoluted tubing.

I know the fuel and loom have to be separate.

Just very short of space in my tunnel.

My full loom in the Avon was only cable tied and no problems with that.

Guess I'll just have to wait until my prop arrives and then see what I can do.
