which electric fuel pump for vx 16v?
Hi everyone,
just been wondering , which type of electric fuel pumps are best for fuelling a vx 16v redtop on points and twin 45 webbers?
I know Facet do loads of different models, but what are you guys using ? and is there a locost scrapyard pump you can use?
and wheres the best place to site it?
cheers, Greg

My mate has a red top and twin 45's like you. He's been on the road a while and no problems with it.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Hi Greg
The guru Dave Walker reckons that you need at the very least 0.5 pint for each expected bhp per hour - but a safe margin is to do calcs on 0.6
Given that a carbed XE should deliver around 175 - 180 bhp, you need a pump that can deliver around 108 pints per hour.
Also bear in mind that most pumps that will deliver this amount of fuel will more than likely overpower the float needles due to excessive pressure,
so a regulator will be needed too.
I use a Facet solid state 'fast road' pump on mine.
HTH Stu.

I have a facet solid state SS502, http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/web-facet.pdf fuelling a 3.5 l V8 in a Landie, not have any fuelling problems (other
than blocked filter due to sand/grot in the tanks). I'd be very surprise if yours would use more fuel than mine!

I wouldn't like to bet on that! Fuel used is proportional to power made and engine efficiency. The v8 will be less efficient but also makes
quite a bit less power despite it's 3.5 litres.
It's not at all tricky to get a std vauxhall engine on carbs or throttle bodies down to a steady 5-6 mpg when working it hard.
Stu will know though!!!!
