Megasquirt is an experimental, user constructed (normally), user programmable engine management system capable of controlling both ignition and fueling.
Megajolt is an experimental, user constructed (normally), programmable ignition system. Both can be used with a distributor or distributorles by using a crank position sensor.
You need eitherto have prior knowlwdge of electronic engine management or be VERY keen to learn and are in no hurry to get results
If neither of these are true then my best advice is Dont Get Involved.

To be honest i'm not too bad with the electronics side of things so i'm not too worried on that score, my next question is this... Would megajolt be suitable to use on a 2.0 pinto motor with dellotorto 40's on it? also what gains am I likely to achieve by using it?? if any? oh and any ideas what it would cost?
cheers
john.

I know several people who have gone down the Mega jolt route with Pintos running on 45s, who have had very good results. Total cost worked out around 70 pounds or so, to home-build.

Given that you end up with a 3D mappable ignition system equivalent to something like an Emerald M3D system (costing around £500), thats pretty impressive.

As for the benefits ... a mappable ignition system will usually give you MUCH better driveability and fuel economy if you are running a tuned engine with non-standard cam etc. On a completely standard engine, you'll notice some, but less benefit.

Cheers
Richard
