Sierra Switches.

I'm stripping the wiring harness off my Sierra to make a harness for my new kit.

I want to use only the indicator stalk on the column and put a switch on the dash for the lights. I'm not using wipers so they have gone.

The lights have 3 relays, one to switch them on and then one for dip headlight and another for the high beam. They also control fog lights so I think thats why there's 3 of them.

With the low beam fuses being 7.5 amp do I really need the relay if I use a switch on the dash. I know the original Sierra switches are rubbish but my MK2 Escort didn't have any relays!

Ideally I intend to keep the relay for high beam but not for low beam. Will that be OK? Considering i don't intend going out much in the dark!!

Any advise??

Cheers
Steve

As long as your dash switch is rated at 15A or above you shouldn't have any problems. Personally I would still use a relay though

If you are still using the Sierra collumn switch for Dip/Main beam & flash, then you WILL still need to use relays, because that switch is NOT built to take the high current loads from direct switching.

If you are after using a single switch on the dash for you main light control, then have you thought of using the rotary Granada item, and yes you would still need relays with that.
