ford 2 lt DOHC injection

help i have a ford 2 lt dohc injection engine in my kit car.
I am runing a engine management system from the doner car .
i have had the harness re worked and have two relays fitted 1 relay for the fuel pump and 1 relay for the efi .
when i try to start the engine the fuel pump runs for about 3 seconds then the relay trips and the fuel pump slows down .
IS there a way to test a injection to see if there is a curent there to triger the injection, eg with a multimeter

for starters, when you say the starter is running for 3 seconds and then stops, is that when you turn the key to ignition pos 2? If so, this is normal standard behaviour. the pump primes the fuel system for 3 seconds first.

does the fuel pump contimue to run, just slower, or does it cut out altogether ( this is before you have tried to start the engine. )
