do you mean from the clock end or the sprocket cover end? They arent needed for operation. If you want you bike speedo to work then you need a magnet and pickup somewhere, a speedo healer to correct the signal and then wire that up to your clocks.

i dont believe it is too bad, but ive never fitted a speedo healer myself. Infact, ive never had a speedo either!

One solution that does work is to get a cycle trip computer and attach the magnets to a front wheel, you then have a little inch square readout that you can clip anywhere that does all the usual functions. RoadkillUK has one fitted which he showed me once, looked quite cool.

yes, you need some way of telling the speed. I read that you can take the speed sensor out of the sprocket cover. Do you have your sprocket cover and the wires out of it? If not i have one spare. Plug this into your clocks, then all you need is a magnet passing it often to make a pulsing signal. You could demonstrate this by gluing a magnet to a drill chuck and spinning it past it fast. I wont recommend you do this for obvious safety reasons, but it should work. Then you just need to araldaite a pair of magnets onto your propshaft, at the engine end if you havea live axle, and mount the magnet close, ie within a few mm. This will make the speedo move, but not accurately since all the speeds will be wrong. All the speedo healer does is convert once frequency of pulse to another - you calibrate it by testing and calculating a figure to type in. Im sure someone who has done it will be along soon!

Yup. 99 percent sure it would. Also the mileage wouldn't clock up.

I got a speedo sensor from e-bay, come with the sprocket cover(that you don't need) for a tenner.gonna use a bracket and aim it at the prop adaptor bolts and use speedo healer to sort! they make one that just plugs in for about £50

P.S got the idea off of here!
