Reverse switch

I'm working on the electrics for my car (SVA by end of year I hope!) and am having problems with the reverse switch in my Mk2 Escort gear box.

Problem is, it doesn't appear to reach quite far enough. It does work if I put a screwdriver in the gear lever mechanism and give it a little push or really push hard on the gear lever.

Is my switch just worn, or is there any way of adjusting it?

Is it screwed all the way in?

I don't think they're adjustable, it may be buggered, get another one they're cheap.

Cheers

Chris

Had a thought, the bit that contacts the switch on the gear lever could be worn.

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

On a type nine 5 speed box there is a little black plastic saddle that sits over the selector rod,the gear stick fits over this.

I know my selector wouldnt work without this, not sure if it affects the reverse light switch though.

Or

maybe you have wrong switch, might not have enough reach.
