Alternator
I need to get an alternator that is fitted with a regulator rectifior. At the moment i have one without it, so i bought this;
CLICK ME
It clearly has a regulator rectifier on the second picture.
But this is too big to fit under the exhaust manifold and chassis - so i was looking at getting this one;
CLICK ME
I know that it IS small enough but does it have a rectifier? the seller says it does - but then he said the lucas one would fit (using his
measurements!)!!!
Can anyone help?
Cheers matt

well the lucas was far to big so maybe the mitsi one - just depended on whether it had a reg rectifier.

don't quote me on this but I thought all alternators have rectifier (convert AC->DC) as well as voltage regulator fitted inside; all you need
to do is work out which connection goes to which wire. :p
Without having data for both, I would say that the Mitsubishi you listed doesn't look to be that much smaller than the Lucas one.
If it were me looking for small alternator, it is the
Kuboto/Daihatsu that I would get; do a search on hear as it discussed eery once in a while.
Make sure you buy one with the right pulley - V-belt or wide flat grooved belt.

You can see the heat sinks inside so I would 99% say it has the gubins inside not may modern ones don't. Also the fact that is has three
connection, one large and two small make sence.
At a guess one of the small connection would be the light and the secom the signal to charge or exciter wire, most of the older items what the light
and exciter wire as the samoe connection but Jap cars seam to prefer to have seperate connections, I guess this is so charging continues if the bulb
blows.

the alt i have that fits is a suzuki swift one yet doesn't have a rectifier.
In his message he said;
The measurements are: (LUCAS) Length 140mm Circ 410mm Dia across casing 130mm, fitted with a V pulley as pictured.
Alternatively the Mitsubishi Alt also available measures: Length 140mm Circ 350mm Dia across casing 105mm, fitted with a V pulley.
Both alternators have a 80mm mounting distance between the bottom brackets and the adjusting bracket is directly opposite (known as 12o'clock
and 6 o'clock configuration)
