Alternator voltage reulator
Hi,
I think the voltage regulator has gone on mme anlternator. under load it is reading over 17v accross the battery which also doesnt seem to be
charging. is my thinking correct?
if so has anyone got one kicking arround or is it cheap to part ex for a recon?
Cheers
Paul

Before doing anything clean, tighten and check your battery, alternator and earth connections.

yes there is but I can't tell you since I don't have the book with me.
17 V is much too high - it will boil the battery dry, indicated by a smell of bad eggs.
what make/model alternator is it?

I took it off last night and redid it all but didnt seem to do much. there is a small earth which goes into the plug on the rear of the unit is this
enough or does it need an additional earth strap?
i changed from a steel bracket to an ali rs one this shouldnt make any difference should it?
The make and model are valor VA101

I doubt that is right.
Most likley to be Valeo; I believe a French company that reconditioned alternators. (although I could be wrong, they mmay have made theior own).
Most likely you have is a Lucas A 127; the valeo sticker is stuck on when it was reconned.
new regulator, ebay, £ 8
ofcourse if it is not, then ignore ^^^
