MNR Headlamps

Hi everyone, happy new year to all. I just got back home and I have an SVA date. (Panic panic)

I have a set of MNR headlamps

Can they be adjusted in the vertical plane (ie tilt the beam up or down) from the headlight or would I need to have the bracket where it attaches adjustable ?

They also have an E mark, which I assume is ok for SVA, but what sort of beam should they project?

With these type of lights adjustment is usually made by tilting the whole bowl on the main mounting. THey should project a beam with a flat section on the right and a kick-up to the left.

Yes

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Do you have a 8ft passenger... that must be the tallest roll-bar in the universe.

actually, The way I calculated it was:

Should the car be inverted with me in the driver seat, The car would rest on the front of the chassis and the top of the roll bar. Draw a Line (imaginaty) from the roll bar to the chasis and it clears my helmet by 2inch

That's the way it should be done - MSA regulations state that you should do this also backstays and a diagonal.

you don't need the backstays as you have a brace going down to the passenger footwell, but a diagonal would stop the hoop from collapsing sideways in the event of a roll

Cheers

Adjusting lights. Easiest way is to take it to a local MOT (or whatever you have in Malta) garage with a beam setter. Next best is to park a tintop facing a wall and draw the beam shapes you get. Park the 7 in the same place and adjust as close as you can get. Most SVA examiners will let you adjust at the test though.

On the roll bar, as mark says you should really have a diagonal if you can, but I'm more concerned about the bends, it appears to have necked noticeably (unless it's an illusion from the photo). Not a problem for SVA though as there aren't any tests on rollbar strength required.

I see, thanks guys diagonal it is then, should I have the diagonal from under the roll bar to the bottom of the chassis at the rear or can I have it to the rear suspension top mount.
As for the kinks, well I used a pipe bender to do the job and the roll cage is made of chrome alloy. Local guy who does cages here says it is strong enough.
