Wires under the scuttle?
What has everyone done to tidy the wires under the scuttle area? I've just got a big bunch of wires. I want it to look tidy, but more
importantly be secure for SVA.
Ideas / pictures anyone?
Cheers

id guess at either tywraps or tape to hold them together, maybe clips or more tape to hold it in place.

Wrap it up with tape and anchor it with tiewraps, but they will probably not even look under there if the rest is tidy. What kind of chassis is that
in your avatar ? the rails look parallel. Is it the angle the picture is taken from?

Pete,
Its an Avon chassis. Guess it must be just the angle

Hi All,
First of all, I havn't wired my car yet and secondly electrics are definitely not my strong point so please feel free to shoot me down in
flames.
Since I'v got to make my own loom, I wondered about using 7 core cable, as in trailer wire. Couple of lengths down the tranny tunnel, up to the
column switches from the fuse box is another place it could be used as well. I realise some wires have to be thicker but it would be neat and easy to
clip to the chassis or in the scuttle.
What do you think chaps? Dumb?

absolutely agree 907, i plan on doing that. I recently broke a trailer board, each of the 7 wires can take a 21w bulb safely, so i plan on using this
for both indicators, both brake, both reverse and the 7th for both tail lights, and have additional wires for the fog lights and plate. will be easy
and neat!

I'm using the front end of the sierra loom and trailor cables to the rear, can't see any problems, its properly coloured and heavy enough
- unless someone knows different.
I also intend wiring in a trailor socket for test purposes, trailor boards, bike racks etc
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I made my own loom and used the trailer wire to the rear. I bought a roll of quality stuff for £20 and ran 2 lengths down the tunnel, one to each
side. We did a mates car as well and still have enough left to do my next project. The Sierra wire was handy for the front and dash stuff and you can
follow the standard wiring colour code to keep it easy.

HAven't don the re-wiring yet,
Nut that was my plan, Maybe put a wee junction box ( breakout box) at the back to divide up the cores to the lights etc.
I can't see any problem as long as the wire is secured to the chassis and not flapping about in the tunnel, But then again who will see into the
tunnel?
Scot's do it better in Kilts.
