regulator, rectifier placement

can anyone advise on the placement of the regulator, rectifier on a zx10r bike engine.
is it best placed in the engine area for cooling or is it just as happy under the dash behind the scuttle.
thanks.

They have metal backs to them and ideally need to be placed on something big and aliminium to dissipate all that heat.... A bit of heat-transmitting CPU grease wouldn't hurt either...

Mine is bolted to the engine cradle and appears to be ok, either bolted to a large metal heat sink or airflow is required to keep it cool

A pint for the gent and a white wine/fruit based drink for the lady. Those are the rules
