14 volts?
Hi chaps,
Anyone know a quick and easy way of getting a 14 volt feed to power some LED clusters I found at work to use as a oil pressure warning light?
Cheers,
James

the 12V supply should be fine, running the car should be charging at 14 - 14.5V

Just find any wire under the dash that is ignition live, wire that to one side and the pressure switch to the other. Remember that being diodes they
will only work one way round though.

my volt meter reads 14v on my battery, so just connect then to an ignition supply under the dash

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yup. The battery on charge will read near 14v (if it doesn't your battery or regulator is shagged). The LEDs won't dim that much if you
spec the resistor for 14v and you run them on 12v. Actually it's not a bad idea to over spec the resistor. Won't make much of a difference
on light output and might save the LEDs if MrAA does the old 24v jump start trick....

I have tried connecting it to the car electrics and one part of the cluster lights dimly and the other not at all. Both parts work fine on a 14v bench
supply. My battery is only at about 12.7 volts when running.
