Relay wiring

Hi.

I am using a 30 amp relay to switch something that demands about 25 amps current MAX.

I have wired many relays before, but am struggling with this one!

I am using 30amp cable to feed the relay and the same cable from the relay to the device. do i need the same gauge cable to earth the relay or does it just use a nomimal value to operate the switching side.

Thanks

Shaun

Its only the two wires that need to be heavy cable, the other two just need to be heavy enough to operate the relay.

You'll need a good cable from the component to earth though.
