ford genuine speedo sender

Evening all

Been looking at the Burton power catalogue and found a Ford speedo sender part number REVFSS which when used with an adaptor can be used with a type 9

Has anyone used one of these? I'm thinking of this as an laternative to my set up which broke this weekend. Does anyone know how the Ford one is wired? I need it to be one wired to the speedo and the other connection to earth.

Any info on these would be appreciated as looking at the price of trying to get a replacement sender this may actually work out better in the long run as less chance of accidental damage.

Many thanks
Nigel

Check you have enough space first to fit this - I have 4 speed box and one of the mounts would have been in the way so I ended up making my own sender.

type 9 seems to be ok so I would recommend going this route - forget about replacement and silly magnets.

I will look in mondeo haynes to see if wiring is covered but I may forget.

cheers fellas

So if it has 3 wires, an earth, a postive 7 a wire to the gauge is there a way I could utilsie this?

Mine only has two one goes to earth and the other goes to the gauge. But I believe the gauge is sending the power to the switch and counting how many times it earths rather than the power flowing through the sender to the gauge and it counting how many times it recieves power.

Any help appreciated as then I can get one ordered and sort it out so I'm back on the road.

Cheers
Nigel
