Sierria Wipers

Oktried to wire in my wipers yesterday and got them all working off of a battery on the floor through the column swtich (not thorugh the ignition)

so I put the scuttle back on and re-fitted the battery switched on ignition and wipers moved eevn though the "feed" was coil up under the bonnet.

So this means that some of the wiper pins must be live from igintion already. Regardless of postion of Wiper Switch

I found out that the pin I have spliced in for my DIPPED/HEADLAMPS permantly feeds the wipers. so it is wipers or lights

HELP

Sierria Column. Which wires do I use for the lights and which for the wipers.

I am confused. Pins seem to have more that one function of interlink in daft ways?

one of the tracks in the wiper motor itself will be live all thr time. ( for the auto park facility)

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Have you got a copy of the Sierra wiring diagram? I used that to work out how the hell it works. Shows the internal switches nicely. That and 10 minutes with the multimeter got it sussed for me.
I know how it all connects to a STM loom but that's probably not much use to you if you're using a different loom!!
Let me know if you need a copy of the Sierra Haynes manual. I can always point you to a copy on the internet

Ok Might have had some success last night. Got the Lights working correctly again off of the colum puttig the power in in the correct place.

But that leads to - Wipers the switch is not working as per drawing (suspect switch knackered -well I did have it apart )

Hazards and Indicators now buzz when swithed on. So Fault there and the dash gauges go to zero when I switch on the lights because they are earthing though the column side lights and when it goes to +12v....

Will get there just hate these simple jobs that turn out to be a nightmare.

Now where DID i put that mulitmeter.........mmmm
