Donor wiring harness?
I know some of you will have used the Sierra wiring harness to keep cost down.
How easy would you say it is to thin out and make suitable for a 7?
I've got a couple of weeks now before I pick up me MNR kit and just twiddling thumbs at the moment.
I took the whole. complete harness off my donor and I'm using the standard switches on the column. Well, for SVA anyway.
Is it worth getting some block connectors and breaking it down into sections, stripping out the bits I don't need??

I modded an escort loom. Wasnt too difficult once I had figured out the colours. Also makes it a lot easier to trace any faults if you know the loom
inside out...

Although I have a wife, and some kids that cost me but never come round...
I'm skint! I'll go with flack on this one.

I am using a thinned down Granada loom, just have a look in my photo archive.
No great problems, just get a manual with a decent loom diagram in it & starting from the main power supply in and distribution follow the wiring
through the fuse box taking out the wires that you DON'T want and high-lighting on the manual the wires that you DO want (future wiring
diagram).
Enjoy

Oh and a circuit tester/multi-meter was very useful.

I used the loom from my XR4X4, and that included using the EEC IV ecu, ABS system et. al. I even used the sierra fuse and relay box. Laid it out on a
sheet of ply, got a good, (Haynes, so only fair ),wiring diagram, multi meter, and just took out all those wires that on the Locost were not
required, interior lights, electric mirrors, radio connections, electric windows, etc, etc. I think there are one or two pictures in my archive. HTH

Hmmm! just checked the archive, no pics.

To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

slight OT but do folks unravel the binding to pull out the wires they need and remake the loom (the way I think I would do it) or just use the loom as
is and levae any unwanted wires still in there?

strip the bindings to reduce weight & re-cover with split flexy plastic as appropriate for sva.
