Nippon Denso Alternator wiring

I have fitted a compact nippon denso alternator to my zetec in mk1 fiesta but i cannot get the dashboard warning light to work.

This is the connection on the alternator it has the main charging connections which is easy and it has 2 other connections labeled IG and L on the T shaped plug, the alternator actually came off a Dihatsu hijet

I have one blue wire to connect to the alternator for the light and i have tried it on both connections but it doesn't work, any ideas?

My Denso alternator is very similar to yours, but has 3 connections on the socket [IG, L and P(not used)].

Mine doesn't work by earthing the ig light when not turning.

The ig connection on mine puts out a 12v signal when the alternator isn't turning.

The signal isn't enough to light a bulb, but will light an LED.

I use a transistor connected to the 12v signal to switch the ignition light to earth, thus putting the light on when not running. [I'm using an Acewell 3250 for ignition light].

This looks identical to the one I've used. Have a search there's plenty of info on the site. You need a 12v supply to go to the IG and the light goes to the L. The 12v supply needs to be switched off with the ignition otherwise your battery will go flat. I found out the hard way.

Sorry - Flange Nut is right - the L connection goes to the lamp.

If it is like mine though you'll still need to faff about to get the charge light to work.
Have a look here for help.
