Fiesta MK5 by passing PATS
My lad has a damaged stolen recovered 2001 1.25 fiesta MK5 but only got the emergancy key any one know how to get round PATS as we want to check the
engine before it's removed from the car.

had a similiar problem recently...
had an autoelectrian out in the end..
dont think it can be done yourself unless you totally rewire the engine bay...
you cant just disconnect it..
and even with the right equipment takes ten minutes to get round 2 stages of thatcham immobiliser...

Basically you need to get the ecu modified to remove the immobiliser circuitry. There are firms who can do this. Here's one, and there's
plenty of others. Aim for about £50

Thanks for the replys as he is breaking the car but wants to use the engine, before going through the hassle of fitting it I just wanted to test it in
the old car without paying out a fortune.
I may end up swapping the ECU over from his other car.

cant ford supply a key as you have the emergency one ?? or cant you contact previous owner on V5 to see if they have a spare

If it was bought as salvage then it won't have a log book with it, have to apply for vehicle identity check if he wants to put it back on the
road.
