Battery mounting

What do you think of this, the battery can only come out by pulling it out, or should it have a fixing over the top, unless i roll the car its in there solid.

Will also have some thin foam to stop any vibration

Neat - but I'd put a strap over it (a bit of vibration and a good bump could dis-lodge it )

Its cuz I is blond , innit

Imagine that you were unfortunate enough to roll your car... you're hanging from your harness, thinking "thank god I got away with that one..." then the battery falls out of its box and shorts out on the bonnet, causing lots of sparks and setting alight the spilt fuel...

...which is the sort of story the SVA inspector will tell you when he fails the battery box! But an aluminium or nylon strap will sort it.

At my SVA test, the inspector grabbed hold of the battery and gave it a good old waggle around - and he wasn't being gentle. Fortunately my battery strap is a tough bit of steel held down with three 8mm bolts.

But, on the positive side, that's a neat looking job - a strap would finish it off really well.

i did someting similar using a piece of cheque plate too to put battery in passenger foot well; the fire wall made up 2 walls of the box.

I put foam sheet around battery to hold it in place as well as a bolt with rubber hose over it to keep battery down - I have rubber boots to insulate terminals should a metal object fall onto the battery from above.

as ^^^ say, you need to ensure the battery cannot move.
