Tiger Cat wiring question (fuel gauge)

greetings people,

I recently added a Vapor dashboard to my Tiger Cat - great little device which is working well - unfortunately in the process of connecting it up I seem to have *broken* the wiring to my fuel gauge.

Anyone know how the fuel gauge should be connected? One of the wires must to the sender, Im not sure if the other should be positive or earth?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Dan

I can't answer specifics but generally wiring is as follows:

power - gauge - sender - 0 V

power can be 12 V or 10 V if a reglator is used - older guages would use a regulator.

the sender is nothing more than a sliding arm over a coil of nichrome wire, as the wiper moves, the resistance changes and this is in effect what the gauge displays.

the sender will have at least one contact -an insulated terminal - that connects to the guage.

there may be another tag for 0 V but usually the earthing is done via the sender's body to the tank - tank needs to be strapped to earth.

there may be a third tag that would be used for low level warning lamp but I have yet to hear of any locuster having that so you can ignore.
