MX5 ECU

Is the mk1 the same as the mk2 ecu, i would like to run the original injection and ignition system and wondered if it was possible.

Mk1 has a mechanical 'flap valve' type AFM whilst, I believe, the Mk2 has a 'hot wire' type of AFM. So I would expect the Mk2/Mk1 ECUs to be incompatible.

My MX5 engine is a Mk1 1600 and I have the mechanical 'flap valve' type AFM. The injection system/ignition/ECU is completely standard apart from the fuel pump and intake filter.

There are some photo's in my archive of the installation.

The Mk2 uses a different ECU, I can highly recommend the plug and play megasquirt setup http://miataroadster.com/ms.html. I use this in my mx5 and its pretty good. (My original ECU was wonky so upgraded)

Some of the MK1's differ as some had two plugs some had three but I don't know if it was just age related thing or 1.6/1.8 engine size?
