LED wing side/repeaters

Was thinking the other day... having sidelights on the wings might be useful safety-wise as they'd give a better impression of the width of the car at night. I could try converting a clear glass cycle wing repeater to do both jobs; 270 degree repeater and small forward facing sidelight, in the same casing using LEDs. Anyone know if Mr. IVA/SVA would have a problem with this?

Could do the same to the rear too, except that they'd be a tad small to use as main rear lights, so they'd have to be there in addition. Not sure what the law would say about that, though I'm guessing it'd be ok as it's not much different from the small spot-LED lights HGVs use to define their shape in the dark.

I've heard reports of homebrew side/fog/indicator lights getting through SVA/IVA as long as the brightness and angles are all within spec, but I've also heard of people failing on this. Anyone know what the official line is?

Wotcher thunk of the idea folks?

As long as you have the correct number of compliant lights and reflectors then a few extra LED's should cause no problems what so ever

Good to know, thanks. I plan to use all in one units for my main lights so I guess that should be ok. Cheers!
