Fuel sender

Ok, I think I've found the problem with my sender.
I've built an electronic fuel gauge and struggled every step of the way.
I finally got it working but it's not that reliable and having taken apart the sender and found the board the wound wire is mounted to is damaged.

So what I'm after is a side mount fuel sender. Does anyone know where I could get one from? The ones on ebay all seem to be top mount... could a top mount simply be turned around or modified to fit the big hole in the side of the fuel tank

Don't forget that different fuel senders have different resistances.... so unless your fuel meter is adjustable you'll need one with the same operating characteristics as the other one (just not broken)!!!!!

The one I've made is based on the one here:

So yes, it's fully adjustable. it just compares the input from the sender with the input from the variable resistors and lights the LED up.

Aha! The only thing you might find with that circuit is that there's no noise suppresion or hysteresis so when you're signal is close to the switch over from one LED to the other you'll find the LED will flash on / off as it crosses / uncrosses the threshold....
