oops - fog light wiring wrong
Evening everyone....
Just fitted the rear fog light and I've ballsed it up somewhere - with the lights on, switch on the fog light, and the normal lights go dim
(including the instrument lights).
I used the MNR loom, but replaced the supplied switches for savage ones.
Anyone any idea where I've gone wrong? SVA on Tuesday......
ETA: The fuse for the fog is getting warm, so I think I must have managed to short it somewhere?
Cheers
Vince

Could be a short but sounds like an earth fault.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Do you have relays for the light circuits?
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Relays for dip / main beam, but not the fog. I've got a feeling it'll be the switch (as they're a bugg3r to wire where I've
put them...), I'll have a go at it today...

Earth faults cause illogical havoc! I really would check them first.
I failed SVA on Fog light not working, I later found that I had it wired in plus to minus and vica versa. This wouldn't normally matter except
the bloody mounting screw went through the neg contact to help earthing, (thus my positive was connected to the chassis).
May be worth checking!
Another thing to try is disabling the hazards as a mistake there also causes havoc!

Doh!
Earth fault = my fault!
Wired the switch in the same way as I did the Rad fan override - which has a relay! So, basically, when I latched the switch I was putting the feed
straight to earth - genius!
Troubleshooting wasn't helped by the fact that the bulb holder for the foglight wasn't making with the connector properly, so it took me
about 45 minutes to actually figure out what was going on - when I figured out my mistake and tested it, it still didn't work!
Doh.......
