DIY Engine wiring

I have to chuck the wires that came with my engine as they were shot and now that i cant find any on fleabay, im thinking i might make my own, being locost and all that.

What i need to know is where i can get the different coloured wires and the plugs from (for fuel injectors etc)?

Also would it be possible to use a 4.0 ECU if i worked out what pins do what as i cant find a 3.6 ECU anywhere?

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Vehicle Wiring Products will do the cable and most connectors - If you can't source a jag ecu then the next cheapest would be megasquirt - The MegaEFI boys will do one with most of the wiring for just over £200 IIRC...

The plpug i need is one that fits on here:

I can get a 3.2 or 4.0 ECU for around £20. Im just not sure if i will have any problems with a 3.6 engine.

You may struggle, having the brain is only part of what is required.

You will also need the ballast resistor block, air flow meter and other bits and bobs. The 4.0l ECU also ran the sparks via the distributor, the 3.6 just ran the EFI element.

Better to save for megasquirt IMHO.

Regards Mark

injector plugs and other fittings are junior timing housing plugs - you can swipe most of that from a scrap car .

most cars have got those nowadays .
