Smaller injectors for gsxr1000 TBI's

Alright,

Here is the opposite of the normal question.

Anyone know where I can get some smaller output versions of the Keihin KN4 injectors.

The stock ones are 270 or 240cc/min (not exactly sure), but I have staged injection and the outer injectors are around 200cc/min (cbr1000rr, although internet suggests 294cc/min it isn't true), so I need something of 200cc/min or less. If the inner injectors are larger than the outer injectors then MegaSquirt doesn't really like it. I can tune around the problem, but I'd like to do it properly.

I've been trawling the internet on this one, with no success so far. Any thoughts?

If all else fails I can make you some adaptors to fit normal bosch injectors to the throttle bodies I should think

What injectors are fitted to the smaller capacity bikes?

sorry for the delay,

Smaller capacity Suzuki's of the same era are all carbs as far as I can tell. When EFI became more mainstream the technology had moved on.

Honda seem to use this design fairly extensively, and I have flow rate against engine code. But they don't all have the same form factor.

I can always tune around this, but it would be nice to do this properly if I can, although interestingly the CBR1000rr (super powerful honda from which my outer injectors came) has the same inner and outer injectors, so my present ones aren't so far out.

The other option is for me to increase the size of the outer injectors, or change the software so that it allows outer injectors that are slightly smaller than the inner ones.

Not a massive problem, but it would be nice to do it right.

They are all bike injectors.

Interesting idea, but using a gsxr1000 pump which includes regulator, so getting 2 different fuel pressures isn't really feasible.

Thanks for the offer Will, but I already have some of those.

Regarding injector sizes, I did a reverse lookup on the RonAyres site and it seems that those 2000-2003 gsxr have the same injectors. I still don't know whether it is 240cc/min or 270cc/min, but both are a bit too large for what I need. Looks like I need injectors from a Civic 1.5litre CX model 1996-1997: CX; 4Cyl 1.6L D16Y7; or a 1996-97 4 Del Sol S SOHC 16V (115 HP) 1590cc D16Y7.

anyway here were my RonAyres results.

Looks like

153195 from Accel (at too much money) which are an upgraded version with 195cc/min

or the injectors out of a
D16Y7 engined Honda. (civic, CRX, del sol)
rated at 180cc/min

If anyone has seen a D16Y7 in their local scrappy then...

I have a set of outer injectors from a 2007 GSXR600, which I think are 200cc/min, will cheak the part numbers.

Thanks Pete,
Unfortunately they changed the interface so these later ones won't fit without modification.
I'd prefer not to adapt the throttle bodies, although as Flak Monkey has already suggested that would provide a solution.

Just to tidy up the loose ends of this thread.

It turns out that Keihin is a $1.8Billion OEM supplier to Honda primarily and that the Keihin injector interface is something of a standard on Hondas (or at least used to be). I found a whole pile of Accords (2000 ish models) with promising looking injectors.

I did a massive google on it all, and managed to get the specifications.

It is complicated due to Hondas being made in the UK (as well as in other places) and the UK not using the smaller injectors, and wikipedia being dominated by US information but in the end I managed to get some injectors. Honda Civic 1997 Coupe D16Y7 engine, seems to be about the only type in the UK to have the high impedance low flow injectors. These are rated at 180cc/min or 190cc/min depending on where you look. This is perfect for me as it is under 200cc/min.

They are different in shape to the gsxr ones but the rubber sealing rings (both ends) are the same part and the impedance is the same (give or take an Ohm) 11.7Ohm for the civic ones (the chunky ones). The only significant difference is that the civic ones are longer (by about 7mm), and that the green end has a larger diameter.

Interestingly the larger diameter fitted fine with my gsxr600 TBs, but on the gsxr1000 TBs I needed to enlarge the hole at the end to about 10mm.

Here is a photo of them in-situ in some gsxr600 TBs.

I think what this means is that if you need injectors larger than the standard gsxr600,750,1000, then there is a world of honda car injectors of some fairly dull vehicles out there some of which have greater capacity and which are a simple plug and play solution.

Further it might be worth measuring the bore spacing on some of these Honda engines, as it might provide a simple and extremely locost set of fuel rail, regulator, and injectors if you are doing a gsxr TB conversion.
