Radial Tunnel Syndrome - surgery
Peeps,
Has anyone had surgery for radial tunnel - if so what was your experiences.
Did it fix the prob, how long out of action etc etc

That's 'carpo-tunnel' isn't it? Common for IT people.

i dont know now... my hand kept going numb once and they moved some nerve in my elbow... might of been carpel tunnel mate yes....

carpal is wrists, this one is elbows.

No, it's the radial nerve getting pinched under the supernator muscle in the forearm about 3" - 5" from elbow.
For the most part it's fine, but I can't use a tap (for putting in threads), screwdriver twisting sort of uses. Using power tools requires
care especially grinders - quite interesting when arm is moved to wrong spot and wants to drop said grinder - all work uses. Reluctant to use that arm
to lift kettle as it may drop and it's started hurting after swimming now.
Had anti inflammatories, accupuncture, physio and two cortezone injections and consultant has said surgery may be last resort and I'm inclined
to agree. It's been going on for nearly a year and it's getting me down.
Consultant has said it may not fix the prob and I'll have an additional scar; just now thinking it may be the way to go regardless.
Never been in hospital, so kinda worries me, even though I may be in and out in a day.

yes it is wrists.. but they go in through the elbow cos thats were the trapped nerve is....

dont worry about it mate you wont feel a thing... ive had loads of ops and full of scars.. thats what you get from 15 years of rugby league....ha

I've got carpal and radial tunnel got diagnosed last may-ish. I find it doesn't play up too much unless I'm doing a long spell of
manual work then I tend not to be able to feel my fingers until around 12 midday. It's bad at the moment, wearing wrist splints to bed helps a
little but I constantly have issue with my elbows. If I raise my arms above my head, be it standing or lying down, my forearm/wrist and hands will go
within 30 secs.
I haven't been able to have surgery yet due to the cost of being off work. A guy in my street had elbow surgery and was off for months

if its gone a year and not improved and has the potential to cause you further harm ie dropping grinders etc I would take whats on offer, i believe
carpal tunnel is a 6 week recovery but has to be woth it in the long run surely if you have the chance to regain full use of the arm
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

I have had both carpel tunnels done, local anasthetic, didnt feel a thing. takes a few months before you can use your hands as hammers again though.
Fully sorted now after months of it being a pain in the bum before the ops.
