cheapo ebay brake discs any good?

i can get rear discs for a focus st170 from ebay for £15 each.now the question is does it matter about the quality.or should they be made of a specific material.does it make any real difference to the stopping power of the car.why should i pay more if i dont have to.anyone think its a bad idea.

Personal experience with a set of discs I bought off ebay has been absolutely fine, and didn't warp even when overheated. 35k miles and counting.

Just buy some proper pads please!

I bought a cheap pair of front didcs for an Alfa 164 - they were fine except for one small problem - the centre hole was 2mm too small !
5 minutes in the lathe had that sorted , and they were still going strong when I sold the car 3 years (and a LOT of abuse) later

bear in mind the rear disks so a LOT less work than the fronts on tin tops ..... so if you're worried about quality, then getting them for the rear is the better option.

Another way of looking at it is this - these things stop your car ............ do you really want to risk it?

You also have to think of it like this, how much is the postage on top of the cheap disks Vs buying straight from a local motor Factors? I agree that you need to spend good money on pads though!

Check out you local motor factor to save postage costs. I've just bought rear disks for a Mk5 Golf for £12 each including VAT from CES. Perfect fit and look to be OEM quality (but time will tell on that one I guess).
