Bazzaz package
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has heard of a BEC that has had the full Bazzaz fuel ecu, quick shifter and traction control package put on it?
I know the Bazzaz TC doesn't use any wheel speed sensors or gyroscopes, just throttle position, gear position and engine RPM so ideal for a BEC
install - i.e. not having to fit wheel speed sensors etc.
Could be quite a good TC system (with fuel mapping and quick shifter integrated too) for a BEC no?

How can a traction control system work properly without wheel speed?

It was developed when the AMA super bike championship banned the use of wheel speed sensors and gyroscopes. I think it was a guy who used to work for
Yoshimura that developed the system, spotting a loop hole in the rules and using just throttle position, gear position and engine RPM to limit slip at
the rear wheel.
It works by measuring the rate of acceleration of the engine compared to the gear you're in, the amount of throttle you have on and the change
in road speed. It interpolates it from all those parameters, so if it senses the engine RPM is accelerating faster than road speed for a given gear
and a given amount of throttle, it cuts the spark back, limiting power and therefore wheel spin.
A very clever system really that needs no extra sensors adding to your bike, or car - that's why I thought it'd be a good system for a BEC
as very little modification has to be done to get it running.

megasquirt includes a version of this which cuts in when the rate of increase of RPM is non-physical. It doesn't incorporate the gear position
sensor though.
