Hissing battery??! Blade wiring
I've just started to get down to wiring up my blade engine again, gave up last time as my fireblade battery even when directly connected to the
motor would'nt turn it over! This was after I had taken the brand new battery to a honda dealer who filled it with acid and charged it.
I had another look at battery today, and noticed that the acid was way over the top line, I charged it on a proper bike charger and it began to hiss,
took it off charge and it hissed for an hour!!!
I don't know why I had'nt noticed this before, so I tried a car battery directly connected and it turns over. PHEW!
Anyone know whats up with the bike battery? Is is simply overfilled? Can this easily be rectified or will it have destroyed the battery?
My second query regards wiring the engine (94 blade "carbs" I would really appreciate if anyone has done a simplified wiring diagram for
a blade engine, without ancilleries included, as electronics is my weak point. I've got the haynes one. If not then please tell me if it is a
good idea to have a simple fuel pump on/off switch?
Sorry about the long read!
Look forward to any replies,
Cheers,
Mark

Be very very careful with these batteries... if it is hissing the chemical process which goes on inside is exceeding itself... the hissing is gas
being expelled. DO NOT RECHARGE THIS BATTERY it is faulty. It may even explode...
I have read that if a bike battery drops below 11.6V then standard recharging is a sure sign to wasting it - a standard charger overcharges it and
fry's the plates. PLEASE READ THIS BY CLICKING ME
AFAIK most bike batteries are sealed and should only be trickle charged on a proper bike trickle charger. Overcharging may have damaged the plates and
caused irrepairable damage. Dispose correctly or return to supplier for refund...
Regarding wiring - follow the Fireblade Manual wiring, extending wires where required. It's really not that difficult! All you need to add which
is beyond the bike loom is Fog Light, Hazards (may be better getting someone in) and a few other small bits. The fuel pump should be driven via a
fused ignition feed as on the bike. It is pressure sensative therefore switches off when pressure reached. Do every unit as a small project checking
it constantly... this way nothing gets missed and all should go soundly... you have plenty of support on here.

Sounds like it's been fast charged and buckled the plates, not good news. I bought one a couple of weeks ago for my bike, Revere uses same
battery as early Fireblade. It's easy enough to fill them as they come with an acid pack which you just stick in the top and push down to pierce
it. If they don't drain in,just rock them a bit or pierce the end of the capsules. They are dry charged so if you leave them for an hour or so
they will start your bike.
Like this
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Some good info here

and here
http://www.dewweb.co.uk/indyblade/
Its not easy, but its not impossible, just take your time, and gert as much info/help as you can!
I would'nt bother with a seperate switch for the fuel pump. just run it from the ecu/relay as standard

Hi Mak,
This wiring diagram I did should help Blade Wiring Diagram when I started
out I knew hardly anything about car electrics, now I know alot more. As already mentioned it's not all easy but once you get going you will be
suprised how logical you find it.
As for the battery Hellfire is right, hissing battery = dangerous gasses escaping, take it back to the dealer and get them to change it.
HTH,
Rich.

Remember a friend of mine looking over his battery with "fag in gob" whilst it was charging.
Thing went bang. His head hit the bonnet. He then fell off the ramp screaming. My mate grabbed him and took him to the emergency eye wash station.
He was OK and it's funny looking back but not at the time.
Dead cell dead battery, take it back.

Thanks
Thankyou for the response guys, lucky that I had an incling it wasn't a good idea to light up my angle grinder beside a heavily hissing
battery!!! that battery is going to the tip asap!
No won't be a regulator problem as have only charged it on a charger twice.
Thanks again.
