What lights are required for track only use? (MOT?)
I'd presumed that for a track only car, lights weren't required (although possibly a high intensity rear light, a-la what the Formula x
cars have).
Reading PPC their track only Fury has headlights, indicators and rear lights, as lots of track days require MOT's and these are required for an
MOT.
But...
on the Westfield SS1 (which is doing the rounds on eBay) it has an MOT without lights, for "daylight use only" so clearly you can get an
MOT without lights.
I'm confused...

If its not going to be a road registered car, would it need SVA?
Its purely for use on a track, going to/from on a trailer.

On the same line though, can you get an Mot without an SVA. Also if you turn up at a track day with a track only type car e.g. an F1 how can they
expect you to have an MOT.

I think this was discussed recently on the westfield list. The westfield speed series has similar rules. The conclusion was that even though it seemed
to be within the rules, the MSA blue book had a line in it about lights, therefore you must have an MOT and lights.
now can anyone think of a work around here? daylight mot & add some very small lights afterwards????

If there is such a thing as a daylight MOT, they'd need to be pretty unreasonable, or have a good safety reason, for not letting you on.

i think the general issue is, if you're running using the MSA regs then you need headlights.
Headlights do make sense, they are an easy way to signal to the person infront. if you don't have them what you going to do at 90mph down the
straight - wave ????
