Solenoid current draw
Hello,
Anyone know off-hand what the approx current draw of an average starter solenoid is.

At a guess 20amps+. Most ignition switches are rated upto about 35amps in the 'start' position.

Don't know exactly but nowhere near as much as 20 amps. Put a 3 amp fuse inline (should prolly be enough) and work your way from there. Or put a
meter set on DC amps in line.
Just reread the question and wondered if you meant the coil side or the main contact side?
It's really just a big relay mate.

I am also going on the fact that the wire to a starter solenoid from the ignition switch is usually about 2-3mm^2. It takes quite a lot of current to
close the solenoid to begin with (high inductive load).
