Electric Fan Wiring
With my Pinto the eletric fan was pushing air through the rad. I want to swap it for pull through with the Zetec as ther is more room.
Is it just a case of reversing the wiring or wil the motor not run in reverse.
I am hoping for the simle solution but will source a new fan if required.
Thanks,
Steve

Swap the wires over. It may not be as efficient running in the wrong direction, depends on the fan design.

Ideally you need to reverse the fan blades and the polarity. The blades often have a profile which is designed for one direction and will not be as
efficient in reverse.

Check to see if the fan blade can be reversed as well...some can, and the efficiency comes back. If not, you might want to source a different fan to
avoid looking like a kettle on the boil at traffic lights....

Ahhh...
I hadn't thought about the fan blades.
I will see if the blades will reverse otherwise I wil leave as is until I get a new unit.

hmmmm, interesting;all the ones I've come across (I've got ~7, admitedly I;ve havne;t tried them all) appear to be brush type DC motors so
should run both ways.
As ^^^^ said, fan blades are optimised to run in one direction so you will lose efficiency; unless you are right on the limit, I'd be surprised
if you'll notice any difference.
What you could do is to time how long between fan turning on and for how long it runs with it in front then do the same with it behind when idling.
Record air temp, repeat about 5 times then compare.

The fan blades will be very - very inefficient in reverse, if you can't take the blades off and turn them over it would be best to buy a new
fan.
